ABOUT HIKAM

Founded in 2018, the Health Information and Knowledge in Malay Medical Manuscripts or HIKAM is a flagship of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and event organiser dedicated to encouraging interdisciplinary discussions, facilitating cultural awareness and promoting international exchange, principally in the studies of Malay medical manuscripts and history. HIKAM manages numerous events and programmes that promotes educational interaction, community engagement and academic research which are in line with the WHO Integrative Medicine Strategy, the Malaysian Ministry of Health’s Traditional and Complementary Medicine Blueprint 20182027, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the Sustainable Development Goals of UNESCO including tackling issues of patents and biopiracy. Based in Kuantan, Malaysia, its research center is at Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Allied Health Sciences, IIUM Kuantan Campus.
