1. To promote understanding of the Quranic concept of ummatan wasatan and its equivalents in other religious traditions and its multidimensional applications to human life and thought.

To provide a global forum for intercultural, interreligious, and inter-civilizational dialogue on both theoretical and practical issues of the golden mean (wasatiyyah model) or the middle way (sawa’ al-sabil) in the pursuit of balance, moderation, and happiness in nation and civilisation building.
3. To empower, consolidate, and sustain voices and activities of moderation with the view of establishing peace and justice in society and overcoming extremism, intolerance, and violence in national and international affairs.
4. To help contribute to the realisation of a new world social order based on the ummatan wasatan ideals, principles and values.
