Residentials (Mahallah)
IIUM is unique as it provides 80% on-campus accommodation, known as the Mahallah, for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. The facilities are managed by the Residential and Services Department (RSD). There are 17 Mahallah on the Gombak Campus, which accommodates about 17,000 students.
The Mahallah is divided into three types: Male Mahallah (for male residents only), female Mahallah (for female residents only), and mixed Mahallah.
Interestingly, the RSD also provides on-campus stay via room rental for IIUM Students (for a short-term period), non-IIUM students, Alumni, and the Public based on room availability. Hence, presenters or participants can opt for an on-campus stay for the colloquium days. All reservation must be made directly to the RSD. Transportation
A shuttle bus is also available to move people around campus. This makes it easier for people to move from campus to residential and other facilities.
