He serves as the Deputy Director of the Pharmacy Research &amp; Development Branch at the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), where he has dedicated over two decades of service to the public health sector. His professional interests are centered on pharmacoepidemiology, outcome-based research, and the formulation of pharmaceutical policies aimed at strengthening health systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Abdul Haniff is actively engaged in utilizing records, both manual and electronic, to conduct drug utilization studies that inform policy enhancements. His research portfolio focuses on the ongoing development of the Malaysian Statistics on Medicines (MSOM) reports and various utilization studies, which provide stakeholders with data-driven insights for evidence-based pharmaceutical policy formulation. Additionally, as a member of the Malaysian National Health Accounts (MNHA) Technical Advisory Committee, he provides technical advice on data source lists, collection, extraction, trend analysis, and presentation prior to MNHA Steering Committee endorsement. He further provides recommendations to ensure that national health expenditure estimations and reports maintain policy relevance and international comparability.<\/p>\n<p>On the international stage, Dr. Abdul Haniff serves as Malaysia\u2019s Focal Point for Pharmaceutical Development under the ASEAN Health Cluster 3. He played a pivotal role in leading the preparation of the ASEAN Declaration of Commitment on ASEAN Drug Security and Self-Reliance (ADSSR), which was officially adopted by ASEAN Heads of State in May 2025.
