Professor Dr. Mohd Cairul Iqbal Mohd Amin is a distinguished academic in Pharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where he has been a faculty member since 1997. He was seconded as the Deputy Director General at the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia (2019–2021). 

His recent research focuses on bacterial cellulose-based hydrogels for transdermal and oral delivery, nanoparticles and micelles for anti-cancer drugs, and aerosolized immunoliposomes targeting SARS-CoV-2.

He has authored over 100 publications and has secured nearly RM12 million in research funding. He has supervised 20 PhD and 15 MSc graduates and is the founder and former president of the Malaysia Local Chapter of the Controlled Release Society (MyCRS).
