Professor Dr. Chiaki Ogino 

Professor Dr. Chiaki Ogino is a Professor of the Department of Chemical Science and Engineering at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kobe University, Japan. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Kobe University. Professor Ogino has supervised more than 50 master’s and over 10 doctoral students at Kobe University. He is the author or co-author of over 250 peer-reviewed journal papers and 40 reviews and book chapters.

His wide-ranging research interests include the production of biofuels and chemicals from biomass through synthetic biotechnology using yeast, fungi, and actinomycetes, as well as the development of novel drug and gene delivery systems based on nanobiotechnology. 

Professor Ogino is an active member of multiple professional societies including the Society of Chemical Engineering Japan, Society for Biotechnology Japan, Chemical Society of Japan, and others. He received the Young Research Award for Encouragement from the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan in 2007, and a similar award from the Society for Biotechnology, Japan, in 2010.
