Plenary Speaker 2

Dr. Yuji Sumii is an Associate Professor at the Nagoya Institute of Technology (Shibata Group), specializing in organic chemistry and organofluorine chemistry. He obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Osaka University in 2011, with a thesis on the total synthesis of cortistatin A.

His research explores fluorination chemistry, reaction development, and fluorinated molecules in drug discovery. Prior to his current role, he held postdoctoral positions at California Institute of Technology (Prof. Brian M. Stoltz) and Osaka University (Prof. Motomasa Kobayashi).

He has received several awards, including: 1) Tokai Chemical Industry Association Award for Academic Achievements (2018), 2) The Central Glass Award in Synthetic Organic Chemistry Japan (SSOCJ) (2016) and 3) Uehara Memorial Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship (2012).
